Workstation 10 with Tools 10.2.0 ?

$

(sorry, bad english)

VMware Workstation 10.0.7

Host:  Windows 7, x32

VM:    Windows 7, x32

https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Tools/10.2/rn/vmware-tools-1020-release-notes.html#compatibility:

VMware Tools 10.2.0 is compatible with supported versions of VMware vSphere ESXi 5.5 and later, VMware Workstation 14.0 and VMware Fusion 10.0. See VMware Compatibility Guide for more information.

The Tools-ISO (VMware-Tools-core-10.2.0-7253323.zip) I cannot install in a VM.

But VMware-tools-10.2.0-7253323-i386.exe (VMware Tools for Windows, 32-bit in-guest installer) I could install without any problems. And it works without problems.

Is it dangerous to install Tools 10.2.0 in Workstation 10 ?

No Coredump target has been configured

Hi there,

My Host had ungrace shutdown over power failure,

I had to reconfigure the Raid disks and to add the Host disks again as a data store to the host.

Since that, I get the message "No coredump target has been configured. Host core dumps cannot be saved"

I see from device the disk that used to be for the coredump but  I can't seem to applay this again on it.

Please help here, how to reconnect it?

Thanks,

Barakk.

Hi,daphnissov:

how do you do. It's a great pleasure to talk with you about VMware VCenter. On this special day, I wish you a merry Christmas. Please accept my sincere wishes.

I'm not quite clear about what you mentioned later. Do you know that it is convenient for you to give me more details? Thanks very much

Hello suhag79,

vSAN is built into ESXi kernel and thus does not need a separate install or ISO.

Though check that the ISO you are using contains drivers for all the modules you require (e.g. lsi_mr3 for H730p) that are supported for vSAN and on the vSAN HCL for the function being used.

Yes.  As you indicated it's not intended to be used with Workstation 10.  Installing it is therefore a risk (dangerous) to the integrity of the guest OS.

VMware Tools 10.2.0 Release Notes  : "VMware Tools 10.2.0 is compatible with ... VMware Workstation 14.0".

Yes, but you have to grant permissions at the correct place in the inventory in order for them to see just their VM. You also have to grant further permissions if you want them to be able to do anything with that VM.

Hi

that will not help you, the new installation get  the same problem

IT´s a secutity Problem

I dragged the Fusion app out  to the trash, then used Put Back to restore it.

Then launch Fusion,

open Preferences > Security & Privacy > General and there should be a message at the bottom with an "allow" button

VMware, INC. Click that.

Now my VMs show all connected USB devices

I can confirm that a repair appears to do the trick.  I ran in to the same issue this morning on Windows 10 version 1709 (Fall Creators Update), and a repair fixed my issue.  Thanks for the idea.

Problem solved again in 10.1.0 version

I dragged the Fusion app out  to the trash, then used Put Back to restore it.

Then launch Fusion, open Preferences > Security & Privacy > General and there should be a message at the bottom with an "allow" button

VMware, INC. Click that.

Now my VMs show all connected USB devices

You're logged into the ESXi host client. You must use vCenter Server to join hosts to create and use vSAN.

You should use esxcli to set a new coredump target on a local disk.

Read my previous message again. You must run the vdcrepadmin createagreement command from your vCenter with embedded PSC and point it to the new "clean" PSC to start a replication topology.

First, read and understand this KB if you haven't already. Second, understand that with whitebox servers (i.e. unsupported hardware) your results may be unpredictable with stability not guaranteed. This is one of many possible side effects.

Yes, so even i can not create vSAN kernel network in advance before join the ESXi in to vCenter ? correct ?

You can using CLI but you need vCenter anyway to make use of vSAN properly, so what does that give you?
