already overwrite, no chance to recover that folder and files ...

... and no backup!?

Ok, let's start with finding out which files are required and whether some of them are obsolete? Please download dsfok.zip from http://faq.sanbarrow.com/index.php?action=artikel&cat=47&id=111&artlang=en, extract the executables and run the following commands in the VM's folder.

dsfo.exe "Windows 7 x64-000001.vmdk" 0 1536 "Windows 7 x64-000001.txt"

dsfo.exe "Windows 7 x64-000002.vmdk" 0 1536 "Windows 7 x64-000002.txt"
dsfo.exe "Windows 7 x64-000003.vmdk" 0 1536 "Windows 7 x64-000003.txt"
dsfo.exe "Windows 7 x64-000004.vmdk" 0 1536 "Windows 7 x64-000004.txt"

Then compress/zip the four .txt files along with the "Windows 7 x64.vmdk" (804 Bytes) and attach the .zip file to a reply post. This will show how the .vmdk files are chained together.

Some questions:

  • Was this a clean installation of Windows 7 (important because of the partitioning)?
  • Do you have disk space available (> 60GB) on another local or external disk to be able to clone the virtual disk?
