In your OP you said "...  which I would like to share ..."  and although you then said "... but it is not recognized as a physical hard drive ..." I keyed in on "share"  because if you add a physical disk to VM you're not sharing it, it is taken away from the Host, hence I focused on sharing.

 

I selected "Edit Virtual Machine Settings", then "Add...", "Hard Disk", "Next>", "Use a physical disk". The ram drive is not shown under Device, only local drives.

 

If it's not in the list then I'd say you're out of luck.  That said, IMO it doesn't make a lot of sense to add a RAM Disk as a Physical Disk to a Virtual Machine although I guess you have your reasons whatever they are.  Why can't you just add a second small virtual hard disk to act as a separate drive?
