It appears that the concurrent provisioning settings are not being respected and this "composing\provisioning storm" is max'ing out the IO and CPU which is causing other VM's to freeze and disconnect.
I believe that previous to updating from 6.2.0 to 6.2.3 I observed 8 linked clones being composed per esx host at a time. Until the 8 vms were available in the connection server, another 8 would not be composed on that esx host.
The connection server\vcenter setting "Max concurrent View Composer provisioning operations:" is set to 8. Today I created a new cluster with two hosts. I created a new linked clone pool and designated the new cluster as the destination. I set the max number of machines for the new pool to 96 and to provision them all up front. It kicked off and created batches of 8 one after the other on each esx host without pause and without waiting for any to become available before continuing.
Is this expected behavior? Is there something I can set to have it work that way that maybe I had set previously that got lost in the update?

We have a Sandybridge Xeon Server (Dell R720XD) Xeon E5-2650 that we want to team with a newer server, which is Dell R430 E5-2650V4.
I know that EVC isn't compatible for this CPU on ESXi 5.5. I have found documentation on Vmware website, which says we need version 6.5, to have EVC support for Broadwell CPU.This would be compatible now with the Sandybridge CPU of the old server?

According to the link you posted both CPUs are supported with ESXi 5.5. For the v4 CPU support you need to run version 5.5 Update 3 though.

ESXi boot is made from SD card.
VMs are located on the raid5 datastore.
I tried to open console/RDP/open Web Interface on CUCM/etc, there is no hang or crash.

I called support on this one and they showed me the Factory policy that specifies that .pst files are set to upload only on full uploads including after a reboot.
So a manual sync will not immediately upload .pst files.

CPU is compatible, no issue. Maybe I didn't explained well. We have a vCenter with a cluster created. I want the 2 server to be redundant. This needs EVC support, which on 5.5, I get an error saying it's not compatible.
I know that version 6.5 introduced EVC for broadwell, I just wantto make sure if I update to 6.5, those 2 will be compatible (see image, I just want to confirme we won't have any issue)

We will be upgrading from 5.0 to 5.8 soon.
I am still confused by how to backup our two Mirage storage volumes.
One is a secondary virtual hard disk on the VM. 650GB in use by CVDs.
Second is a W2K8R2 physical file server. 1TB in use by CVDs.
What is the best method to backup these storage volumes before upgrading?
I see in the 5.0 admin guide, there are specific recommendations to use block based backup.
Are we expected to have a separate storage of ~2TB to be able to backup this data before upgrade?

In the same pool - After a recompose, the search menu does not work on some machines and on others it works.
If the master image is the same for all the machines, why would the results be different?
On one machine, a second recompose fixed the issue, but on others, nothing works.

Upgrade to 6.5 will not make your old CPU be compatible with Broadwell CPU. What you need to do to make possible vMotion between your Broadwell and Sandy Bridge CPU, is configure the cluster EVC level to L4 Sandy Bridge.

Actually, I have the 2 server in a Cluster. VM are running on the V4 CPU. If I try to enable EVC, it says that the host (v4 one) can't be added to the EVC.
Is it because it has VMs that are running with the new processor?
I even cannot move the server to another cluster that Sandy bridge EVC is enabled..
Since your VMs are running on the newer CPU, you will need to plan some downtime, and if your vCenter is one of that VMs, you need to follow that procedure: How to enable EVC in vCenter Server (1013111) | VMware KB
Steps #8 of the VMware KB that I posted in one of my previous answers says the following:
If no packets are received, this indicates that something is blocking UDP traffic over port 902 from the ESXi/ESX host to the vCenter Server system. Inspect the physical networking environment and any software-based firewall on the vCenter Server system.
So, based you that, you will really need to check if that port is allowed on firewall.
I can't say I've seen this before..., and our app shouldn't be messing with any permissions in the first place...

Is there any way to configure /storage/core file system's log rotation policy. There is no remote syslog server. We want /storage/core file system does not have more then 15 days logs in vcenter server appliances 6.0
I have a large vCenter Farm and what we are looking to do is Export a list of the Physical hardware that the ESX software is installed on. When I look at each server I can see the information so I know vCenter has it, and when I try to export each machine it sends it to a txt file. I am looking to get a CSV file with every host in the environment. Is there a way I can do this?
