vRO - anyhelp on how to remove VMDK from source VM
All,
any help on how to remove VMDK from source VM, i would like to use a API call to detach the hard drive from VM.
any help on how to achieve this using Java script, i am using Virtualmachine Spec API to make a call.
has anyone tried this earlier?

NSX Manager Backup occurred "Exception occurred while taking backup.( 550 Failed to open file. )"
I setup the Backups &Restore settings and click "backup" to begin backup process, but it failed with "Exception occurred while taking backup.( 550 Failed to open file. )". There should be no problem about the FTP server settings because some there is 2 files can be found in the ftp backup directory, which are obviously written by the backup process.
I collected NSX manager tech support log and can be found via link VMware-NSX-Manager-tech-support-2017May15--05-41-38-327726067.tar.gz

As for the type="css" part, if I remove it, the html components of my plugin disappear completely from all versions (even 6.5). Is there another workaround?

EXSI with vSphere client MKS / NFC problems
I have two issues with vSphere, firstly I cannot connect to a VM via the console due to a MKS login issue. Secondly I cannot initiate a file transfer to or from a datastore due to a "Failed to log into NFC server" error message. I am 100% new to vmware and have no clue how to troubleshoot these issues. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Traffic flow when load balancing UAG
We are standing up a new Horizon 7.1 environment and have some questions on the traffic flow when load balancing a pair of UAG.
For external access we have a dedicated pair of connection servers. These are front-ended by a VIP on our F5 using the iApp. We do not have any tunneling configured on the F5 or the Connection Servers. We then have a pair of UAG that are front-ended by a VIP on our F5 again using the iApp. We have a public IP that is NAT to a private IP on the F5 for the VIP. We then have two connection servers with private IP. We will be doing SSL passthrough to minimize the CPU load on the F5. If I understand correctly the display protocol traffic will still have to flow persistently through the F5 and UAG to the Horizon Agent.
If the traffic does need to flow persistently through the F5 could we instead configure a VIP on our F5 that redirects to the UAG at a public IP? (e.g. vdi.mycorp.com on the F5 which load balances UAG1.mycorp.com and UAG2.mycorp.com). That way all of our client would connect to a single URL that would then redirect them to the UAG which are also publicly accessible but the user would not hit them directly. Kind of like what is described in this discussion?Resolving the balancer DNS name on Access point if it is the same for internal and external connections

ホストOS（今回はWindows10）のフォルダをゲストOSのネットワークドライブ（Dドライブなど）として接続できるようにする機能なので、
Linuxの仮想マシン（Ubuntuなど）の場合は表示されないはずです。
今回はUbuntuとのことなので、ネットワークドライブではなく下記のようにマウントすることになります。
※ゲストOSにはVMware Tools （最新の Ubuntu なら open-vm-tools https://kb.vmware.com/kb/2074713）をインストールしておく必要があります。
別の Linux ですが、私は下記のようにマウントして使用しています。
open-vm-tools の Linux で、VMware Workstation の共有フォルダを使用してみる。
以上です。参考になりますでしょうか。

No need to apologize. Questions are great.
It's 365 2016 (x64) installed directly onto the gold image. I tested this by creating a second pool using appstacks and it didn't seem to make a difference. Same issue.
I'm running this on AppVol 2.12.
The user's writeable volume is UIA+PROFILE.
As a test, I just deleted the user's writeable and have logged in WITHOUT any writable and the problem isn't there. UNREAD works properly.
Of course, once I logout/login I'll lose settings, etc.

And one additional issue I've just noticed.
With the previous config, Skype for Business (Lync) would CONSTANTLY popup every few minutes. Not when a message would be received, mind you, just any time any Office program would be be run, Outlook, Excel, etc, Skype would pop up along side it and would pop up again every few minutes. When I remove the user's writeable, it behaves itself...

Re: vSphere Web Client SUCKs so bad that my experience managing and supporting VMware has turn to SH**!

I am mostly dealing with SMALL sites, having just a pair of hosts and maximum a dozen of VMs. So I would like to have an option to turn off the limited TREE view under each segment (VM, Storage, Networking), which currently shows only limited number of sub-items.
Like in the image - under STORAGE in tree view I see only 2 storages, but there are 5 of them. Why not show them all...or at least to have an option to setup this?
Also clicking on More VMs, More storage, More networks... is the same as clicking on VM, Storage or Networking main branch. So why to have duplicated function link in tree, only consuming space?
I know, in full Enterprise vSphere when dealing with hundreds of VMs, maybe there such an approach would be handy, as you maybe do not need show all of them in tree view. But in smaller setups it looks kinda counter-productive.

Scheduled Tasks using the Web Client
I'm aware of how to create scheduled tasks on a VM in the web client which is now done on the object opposed to being on the Home screen using the C# client but when using the old C# method, you could see at a glance a list of VMs with tasks scheduled. I cant see a way of seeing the same list using the web client, you seem to have to select the VM each time.
Is there a way to see ALL scheduled tasks somewhere as if you forget the name of a VM with a scheduled task, I don't see a way of finding it easily.

Linux kernel 3.11 changed the usage of the 3rd argument to the notifier function from a struct net_device * to a struct netdev_notifier_info *. Your patch will fix it neatly for newer Linux kernels, but the official fix we have queued up ends up being a little bit more complicated because we still support host OSes older than kernel 3.11.
We haven't seen any other reports of a stack overflow though... The misuse of the pointer is very nasty, but I haven't yet seen how a stack overflow could result. Is there any chance you could share more details of the failure? Information on which Linux distribution you're running might be useful, and/or a photo of the panic message on your screen.

Adding Host to VIO Management Cluster
This may seem like a basic question but we need to add another host to our management cluster. We can add hosts to our compute cluster with no problems but we do not want to mess around with the management cluster without some consultation.
We are running VIO with NSX and vSphere 6.0
Can we add another host to the management cluster jsut like the compute cluster and then move some of the NSX VMs to this new host ??

Ok when I unzip it which application I am getting it's an iOS file. Even my system saying that. Ok I go in VMware. In settings of my virtual machine I go in CD/DVD and browse to the tool folder and in my download for (where is my unzip file) there is nothing. I think its because of */.iOS. so I changed it to all types and I select it. Now.?
And I really said sorry. I didn't know it's not the official site. Please forget my mistake. Now I totally understand it's a community and I am a part of it. So please forgive me.

Re: Workstation 12.5.5 patches for kernel 4.8.x?
Hi Darius,
I've attached the outputs of the two modules that were not compiling for me as well as the diffs of the corrections I had to make to get vmci and vsock to compile. The kernel is a stock 4.8.17 pulled from kernel.org, no patches or modifications after unpacking.
The distro I'm running is Gentoo on x86_64 with VMware Workstation 12.5.5 build-5234757 with the module sources pulled from /usr/lib64/vmware/modules/source
It would be nice if it was a bit less of a headache but the benefits of Linux do end up outweighing these annoyances.

A rede cai ao conectar o cabo de rede na maquina que tem vmware
Boa noite.
Tenho um servidor hp proliant ml 310 com duas placas de rede. Vmware 6.0 e vmsphere cliente 5 com sistema operacional server 2008 R2 e Linux centos 7.
Tudo estava tudo bem até o server pegar virus. Apesar de ter removido todos os virus ao colocar a vmware na rede a internet cai imediatamente. Removo o cabo de rede e tudo volta ao normal.
Fico em dúvida se é um broadcast provocado por um possível virus ou se é um problema com a placa de rede.
Para efetuar um teste queria usar somente a segunda placa de rede, porém ao retirar o cabo da placa principal a segunda para de reconhecer.
Agradeço caso possam me ajudar.
