Dell Perc H310 (LSI 2008 chipset) is a common card used, quite cheap on eBay and supports IT mode if that's wanted.

Embedded linked mode on vCenter 6.5 u2b
We know that the embeded link mode is supported in 6.5 u2: vSphere 6.5 Update 2 Now Available - VMware vSphere Blog
however, I met the connection issue of elm visit problem.
In my testbed, I deploy vc1 and vc2 as two embeded vcenter server.
I link vc1 sso during vc2 stage 2 configuration.
After add the 2nd vcenter, I can visit vc1 and vc2 in vc2 web interface.
However, the vc1 web client doesn't show vc2 in flash client
and in its HTML5 client, vc1 only can show vc2 item but it will report " no privileges" when I click the vc2.
vc1 snapshot(left: flash, right: html5)
vc2 snapshot(flash):
Interesting thing is these issues are not created in vSphere 6.7 scenario.
I suppose this may be a bug in vSphere 6.5 u2.
Does anyone meet the same issue? I'm sure I can reproduce it 100%.
Re: Questions about Update Process of 9 ESXI and two vCenter 6.0 to 6.7
First, thanks for your answer, it helps a lot. Now about your advice in detail:
You need to upgrade all the external PSCs first, followed by vCenters.
Ok, good to know. I will get some more knowledge about a PSC.
What you actually have is a form of NIC teaming and trunking. Route based on port ID allows all VMs that share that port group to be balanced between those physical NICs in that VM01 may be put on vmnic1 and VM02 may be put on vmnic2. There's nothing else you need to do here. It also allows for failover so if vmnic1 fails, whatever VM vNICs utilize that vmnic will be moved to other available vmnics.
Ok, sounds good. Then I will not touch this,
I know you said this was a dev environment, but it's still "production" in that it is a business-reliant environment, correct?
Well, yes it is.
See my introductory paragraph for this one. I would strongly recommend against this one until you have hardware that is officially supported on the HCL.
Hm... first, I highly doubt that I will get certified hardware in a reasonable time. Most likely, the next point in time where I can raise this question to my superiors is when the current hardware is outdated, probably in a year or two. But, from what I have discovered so far, may only choice is to switch out the whole server, right? As I havent found a list of supported Mainboards, RAM and HDDs in the HCL? Or am I looking the wrong way?
I still would like to upgrade now to have some control over it and to not be forced to do an update when it gets urgent. At least I want to get rid of the VCSA 6.0, as the webinterface is awefull in that particular version.
Re: Clipboard from client to RDS published app doesn't work
Any ideas?
Re: VCSA 6.5 : "Failed To Configure Network"
VMware Workstation Pro is a totally separate product from Workstation Player. You have Workstation Player according to your screenshots, and that won't support deploying vCSA. Also, if you have used VMware Workstation Pro then the screenshots you're providing aren't showing the actual deployment process. Look at this article. Are you getting those exact screenshots? Especially this one?
If you aren't seeing this screen where you input this information, it isn't being done correctly. If you ARE seeing this screen, then this is what I'm asking you to show because otherwise I can't tell what you're doing at installation time.
Re: PowerCli Script to restart vSAN mgmt and vpd services on all ESXi in VC
Hi,
Yes I do have access to ssh.
Password is not same on all ESXi .
Re: PowerCli Script to restart vSAN mgmt and vpd services on all ESXi in VC
Ouch, can you retrieve those passwords in a secure way in a script?
VMware Horizon Client breaking Windows 7 Monthly Quality Rollup
We automate our Windows patching process and last week when KB4343894 (Windows Quality Rollup for August) was deployed most, if not all, of our 200+ Windows 7 virtual machines were failing due to a "reverting changes" message from Windows undoing the patch. We have also tested KB4457144 (Windows Quality Rollup for September) and experienced the same issue. What's interesting is that with VMware Horizon Client 7.3.2 installed the machine acts as if the update was installed successfully, but when you check, for updates the Quality Rollup pops back up again. On the other hand, VMware Horizon Client 7.5.2 and 7.6 cause the update to fail and when the machine reboots its a 30+ minute wait until "reverting changes" has been completed and the computer is ready to log back in again.
Anyone else seeing this? Did anyone find a solution? Hopefully, we're not alone and there's something that can be done to resolve this issue!
Thanks!
Re: Resource Pool Max Limits
Perhaps your response is to the wrong thread? I'm trying to set resource pool limits in vCenter Server, not test virtual machine resource consumption by printing.
vSAN triggered alarm appearing from time to time
Re: Cross vCenter Clone
Thanks for the response LucD!
Yep. All connections are through FQDN of the vCenter machines. I have 2 vCenters hooked via Enhanced Linked Mode (each having their own external PSC). All components are 6.5U2.
Thanks!

Re: Uninstall Plguin (dar)
To make developer's life easier during development phase, you can set the installation mode element in your plug-in's manifest file vso.xml to "always".
<installation mode="always">
<action ... />
</installation>
The value of this element can be set either by build scripts or manually, depending on how the vso.xml file for your plug-in is managed.
Setting mode to "always" should force the plug-in package to be installed during every server startup. That is, to deploy a newer build of your plug-in, you just need to copy the plug-in DAR file to the vRO server (either by copying the file manually to proper location, or installing it via API/UI), and then restart vRO server.

Re: grant access to a vm remotely
Hi Rick
Many thanks for your reply. This sounds about a good idea to use url. I need to test it. Would the user be able to stop/start the vm with the url?
How to set up access to localhost from vm guest
I am running VMWare Fusion 10 on my Macbook Pro (High Sierra OS) and am developing a website locally. I am trying to troubleshoot cross-browser compatibility on a windows machine (10, 8.1, 7). I need to be able to access the web server I'm running from my mac in the VM.
I've followed all kinds of help on stack overflow and elsewhere with no success.
OpenGL MSAA and "Max samples"
Running Windows 7 guest on macOS using Fusion version 10.1.3 (9472307).
When I run OpenGL Extensions Viewer, it tells me the following:
Renderer: SVGA3D; build: RELEASE; LLVM;
Vendor: VMware, Inc.
Memory: 384 MB
Version: 3.3 (Core Profile) Mesa 17.2.0 (git-8cfea49610)
Shading language version: 3.30
Max texture size: 16384 x 16384
Max vertex texture image units: 16
Max texture image units: 16
Max geometry texture units: 16
Max anisotropic filtering value: 16
Max viewport size: 16384 x 16384
Max Clip Distances: 8
Max samples: 0
1) How can "Max samples" be 0? I would expect it to be 1 if MSAA is not available.
2) Is MSAA not supported in Fusion? The host system/card (macOS) reports handling 8 samples.
3) When I request 8 samples for a 3.3 context, it's returning a 3.0 context with -1 samples:
OpenGL Info
Vendor: VMware, Inc.
Renderer: SVGA3D; build: RELEASE; LLVM;
Version: 3.0 Mesa 17.2.0 (git-8cfea49610)
Shading language: 1.30
Requested: (v3.3 [core], depthBufferSize 24, stencilBufferSize -1, rgba BufferSizes (-1, -1, -1, -1 ), samples 8, swapBehavior 0, swapInterval 1)
Current: (v3.0 [none], depthBufferSize 24, stencilBufferSize 8, rgba BufferSizes (8, 8, 8, 8 ), samples -1, swapBehavior 2, swapInterval 1)
I would have expected this to return a 3.3 context with "0" samples. What's going on here?
Thank you for your time.

Downloading a datastore folder using Powershell
I am attempting to download all of the files in a particular datastore to a local USB drive using Powershell. Some of the files are *.vmdk files. When an *.vmdk file is downloaded the system splits it into two files - a 1KB descriptor file and a flat vmdx file. When the GetDatastoreItem command encounters an *.vmdk file, the copy process quits with the following error:
PS C:\> Copy-DatastoreItem -Item ds:\alb-sys-factsprod\* -Destination F:\sbing\Downloads\ESX_NFS_FACTS_SSD\alb-sys-factsprod\Backup\

What am I missing? I used an exact copy of a Copy-DatastoreItem command used by someone else to copy a datastore folder containing *.vmdk files and everything worked perfectly for them. Perhaps the Copy-DatastoreItem command cannot handle *.vmdk files.
here is my complete Copy-DatastoreItem command:

VM SCSI Controller in vSAN
I'm trying to find an answer on whether it is recommended to use the VMware Paravirtual SCSI Controller in a vSAN environment, or if the default LSI Logic SCSI controller should be used. I have a four node vSAN cluster (each node obviously has DAS storage for the vSAN datastore) in a DellEMC VxRail. The Guest OSes will all be either WS2012 R2 or WS2016 in vSphere 6.5. From what I've read:
- The PVSCSI Controller IS recommended for SAN environments
- The PVSCSI Controller IS NOT recommended for DAS environments
But we technically don't fit into either category. Can anyone help with a definitive answer?
Thanks in advance!
