Hello,

Какая ОС для connection сервера используется?
Hello,
Most of the latest Linux distros install open-vm tools Vs. the VMware native component included in the CD.
However, I can't copy/past to/from the host/guest.
Further, with CentOS, Debian 9, Manjaro or Mint 19, I've a message at boot time saying : "Running in software rendering mode. Cinnamon is curently running without video hadware acceleration ans, as a result, you may observe much higher than normal CPU usage."
VMware Workstation has an option in the display dialogue panel to enable such acceleration but not Fusion.
So, how can I enable such an option, what are the drivers to download and how can I enable the copy/past function from/to the host/guest ?
TIA.
I had similar before, it came down to a lock on a VM's file.
KB2110152 might help investigating that path.
I'm trying to search using a partial AD username. For example, I type "John" and it should bring up a list of all "John" usernames. Currently (in 4.7), I have to type out either the entire username or email address, which I find a hassle when telling people to send me an invite.
they can exist in the same domain but only for short times during an upgrade. See the post martin linked about mixed-vcenter versions. you also cannot have an embedded and external PSC within the same SSO domain.
I am trying to create a workflow to Block All Ports on a Port Group. I think I have everything setup correctly but not sure what to put under the Scripting Tag.
This is what I have after editing an existing.
// ------- ReconfigureDVPortgroup_Task ------- // General Settings: var spec = new VcDVPortgroupConfigSpec(); spec.configVersion = dvPortgroup.config.configVersion; // retrieves configVersion to use during update spec.name = dvPortgroupName; // Policies - Misc: defaultPortConfig.blocked = new VcBoolPolicy(); defaultPortConfig.blocked.inherited = false; defaultPortConfig.blocked.value = blockAllPorts; // Shuts down all ports in the portgroup if set to true task = dvPortgroup.reconfigureDVPortgroup_Task(spec);
There is already out-of-the-box workflow that does so (plus other things) - Update distributed virtual port group (available under Library> vCenter> Networking> Distributed Virtual Port Group).
the corresponding setting is on workflow tab/group labelled Miscellaneous
That is the one I am working from. Trying to consolidate it so there is only one option.
Hello folks,
We have new Cisco UCS servers with recent Intel Xeon generation processors - EVC enabled Sandy Bridge.
Our old cluster is HPE DL380 G9 and G8 - EVC disabled.
I am unable to migrate the VMs on old cluster while powered on because of CPU incompatibility.
I see this method for unlike hosts in the same cluster. Moving vacated hosts to a new created cluster with EVC enabled, then moving VMs to it.
http://www.gabesvirtualworld.com/the-real-questions-about-evc/
I wondering if a third step could be added to then migrate to separate cluster of UCS hosts?
Hi,
i'm trying to write a function to take as input a list of VM's plus, a Datastore name.
The function first needs to verify that there's enough freespace in the Datastore and that the VM is powered down.
Once this is complete, the VM should be moved to the new Datastore and, it's disks converted from Thick to Thin format.
I've attempted the below but, it's not throwing any error and, is not doing anything either, i.e. not powering down the VM or performing the svMotion
Function ConvertThickToThin
{
[cmdletBinding()]
param (
[Parameter (Position=0,mandatory=$true)]
[String[]]$vm = @(),
[Parameter (Position=1,mandatory=$true)]
[String]$DestinationDatastore
)
Get-VM -Name $vm | where {(Get-HardDisk -VM $_).DiskType -contains 'Thick'} | foreach {
if ($DestinationDatastore.freespacegb -ge ($vm.provisionedspaceGB*1.20)) {
if ($vm.powerstate -match 'PoweredOn') {
Shutdown-VMGuest $v -Confirm:$false -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
}
Move-VM -VM.name -Datastore $DestinationDatastore -DiskStorageFormat Thin
}
}
}
Also, can someone tell me the difference between
Thanks
Hello,
I need to create an AD group everytime a machine is being created by requesting a blueprint. I have and Windows Server 2012 bluprint in place and added a XaaS bluprint to it. I used default "Create a user group in an organizational unit" vRO workflow. Right now when I execute the blueprint, I could deploy new windows Server and an AD group is created in specific OU that I configured.
What I need to be done is to configure a custome variable name for the groups like ABC### which the numbers increment everytime a group in being created and also add that group to local Adminstrator group of deployed machine.
What is the best way to get this done in vRA?
This has always been a problem...we've been down many roads (looked at OnApp, tried AirSembly) and generally wasted a lot of time. We currently have a developer looking at writing an app to pull the allocation data out via the API and apply calculations into our billing system.
Previously vRops has been far too expensive for us (as a smaller provider). I'll be watching this with interest.
The following should work:
// General Settings: var spec = new VcDVPortgroupConfigSpec(); spec.configVersion = dvPortgroup.config.configVersion; // retrieves configVersion to use during update spec.name = dvPortgroupName; // Policies - Misc: spec.defaultPortConfig = new VcVMwareDVSPortSetting(); spec.defaultPortConfig.blocked = new VcBoolPolicy(); spec.defaultPortConfig.blocked.inherited = false; spec.defaultPortConfig.blocked.value = blockAllPorts; // Shuts down all ports in the portgroup if set to true task = dvPortgroup.reconfigureDVPortgroup_Task(spec);
Hello,
We are running vCenter 6.0 with 5 hosts that are connected to an EqualLogic 6610 storage using iSCSI. Each host has 2 NICs dedicated to the isolated iSCSI network. We have some VMs running Windows 10 that need to access shared storage for an application that each VM is running. Currently they are using a file share on a physical server which can be slow as well as affect "regular" network performance. Would it be possible to create a shared disk on the iSCSI storage that each VM can access (similar to a shared folder) so that all of the traffic is contained within the vCenter/iSCSI environment?
Thanks,
John
I recently upgraded from VMWare Fusion 8 to 10. In 8 I had a Widows 10 box that worked flawlessly. After my upgrade to 10 its been a nightmare!
The screen in the VM want to be the highest resolution it can do making the icons microscopic. Even if I change the view and select stretch VM to match the box when I reboot it goes back to micro. Also its REALLY REALLY SSSSLLLLOOOOWWWW. Like boot up and log in, all is good, then go make some coffee, build a house, water the garden, solve an Einstein problem, come back and click and icon, them start over again..... much later it starts to move.
I am on a Mac Pro 32 GB Ram Xeon E5 processor, High Sierra.
the vm is 8 gb of ram and 4 core.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
That's strange, I can't find errors in the metadata of these files!?
What we can try next, is to:
This should report the issues in the vmware.log in the VM's folder.

I have successfully upgraded my DELL Precision T7400N Workstation using 2 Intel XEON X5450 Quad Core Processors From VMWare EXSI 6.0 to VMWare EXSI 6.5.0 update 02 (or as it is called now VMware vSphere Hypervisor 6.5.0 Update 2). The only warning I received was that the mentioned Intel Xeon X5450 Processors may not be compatible with the next version of the EXSI Software and to plan accordingly. Which unfortunately was true, when I had originally tried to upgraded my VMWare EXSI software from 6.0 to 6.7 It stopped halfway through the loading process with a black screen and stated there was a compatibility error with the X5450 processor and to check the compatibility guide and went no further. So wrapping this up if your Using a Server/Workstation with an Intel XEON X5450 processor the latest and great version of the VMWare EXSI software that will work with this processor is the 6.5.0 update 02 (or as it is called now VMware vSphere Hypervisor 6.5.0 Update 2).
The versions you referred to appear to not be supported with Windows 10. I wouldn't be surprised if the problem is due to the OS compatibility: VMware Knowledge Base
