You can create a XaaS catalog item that just gets and moves files around or better yet use XaaS to create and action that can be clicked and away you go. What you are asking for is what I would consider 2nd day operations and if you can script it, you can present as a catalog item

I've created my own version of the MSI with the csd-openssl.cfg file modified to include the SAN section.
I've uploaded the modified MSI to save time to those who want a quick fix and the csd-openssl.cfg file for those who don't trust my MSI

Looks like you are using the free VMware Player 6. This version is no longer supported.
Recommend that you download the free for non-commercial use VMware Workstation Player 12.5. A valid email registration is required.

It is probably best to uninstall VMware Player 6, reboot, and then install VMware Workstation Player 12.5.
EDIT: I realised now that you are using 32-bit Windows 8.
Workstation Player 12.5 will not work with 32-bit Windows.
You may want to consider to upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 10. If I am not mistaken the upgrade from 32-bit Windows 10 to 64-bit Windows 10 is also free. Do an internet search on how to go about this. Once you get to Windows 10 x64, you would then be able to use Workstation Player 12.5. I guess you have to weigh the effort and impact of the upgrade also against whatever existing applications that you are using in your current 32-bit Windows 8.

You have to weigh the effort/cost required (taking backups, etc) and the impact of the upgrade (from 8 to 10, and from 32-bit to 64-bit) also against whatever existing applications that you are using in your current 32-bit Windows 8.
The generally recommended RAM requirement for 64-bit Windows 10 is 4GB even though the minimum is set at 2GB. So you may also have to factor that in whether your current hardware can support an upgrade to 4GB if you choose to upgrade to 64-bit Windows 10.

Is this a lab/test environment?
You also need to be aware that there is a 6.6 version for vCenter. When doing upgrades vSphere with or without vSAN, the vCenter should be upgraded first, then the ESXi hosts.
If prod environment, GSS may need to be involved. If you are testing 6.6, you could re-image each host with 6.6, but you will have to configure those hosts from scratch which is a downside. If you have host profiles in place, then it would be easier.

Since VMware Player 12.5 is still supported, logically the tools download should work for that version.
There are two Windows 98 versions. The original Windows 98 and WIndows 98 Second Edition (SE).
IIRC, the installation disks/CDROM of Windows 98 did not come with USB drivers; so it had to be downloaded separately. Win98SE came with USB 1.1 drivers. So if you don't have the USB drivers, the USB thumb/pen drive won't work even if you have the VMware Tools.

1. Yes, it's a test lab, but we do not want to set everything up from zero...
2. Yes, we updated vCenter to the latest version 6.5d first
Questions:
1. I understand correctly that the problem is not in updating vCenter from version U3, but only in updating HOSTS from U3 version?
2. Is it true that in this case, if I completely reinstall esxi on hosts - will problems disappear?
3. Do I need to reinstall vCenter in this case or not?
4. Will the data on vSAN be corrupted? (I read that they should not be damaged when reinstalling the hypervisor).
5. Can I use "host profile" in vCenter when reinstalling esxi, so that I do not re-enter the settings for hosts manually?

Hello, when I tried to package Office 2016 32 bit, I got the same error, added ExternalDLLs=ucrtbase.dll to buildoptions, than I got the other error about the api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll. Than I installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Update 3 Redistributable which solved my issue. That way I was able to successfully package Office 2016 32 Bit. I captured on a clean Windows 7 32 Bit SP1. Independent Persistent disk type is specified when creating a VM, adding a disk to a VM or changing a current disk.
As these are configurations at the disk level so do not require vCenter and can be done via connection to a single host.
