Assuming your processor is Intel, does it support Extended Page Tables (EPT)? Not all Intel processors support EPT even though they support Intel VT-x such as the older Xeons or some of the pre-Skylake unlocked K processors.

Error en ESXi 5.1.0
Estimados.
Re: The guest operating system "windowsHyperVGuest" is not supported
I suppose you must have seen this, too.
It mentions a checkbox "Expose hardware-assisted virtualization to the guest operating system." for the processor settings.
This might be the GUI equivalent of the vhv.enabled = "TRUE" in the vmx.
Depending on the editor you use to add the lines in the vmx, the double quotes sometimes becomes a problem especially if you copy and paste from the webpage; and it basically makes the parameters add in the vmx to be ignored.
Re: DCUI Smart Card authentication not working
My issue is not about card type (yet) as it seems that ESXi does not support my smart card reader.
I had to disable native USB driver to make ESXi see USB devices at all.
# esxcli system module set -m=vmkusb -e=FALSE
After this USB reader was detected by VMkernel but pcscd does not claim my reader, USB device remains available for pass through.

Running pcscd on foreground with "pcscd -f -d -a" does not result any log messages when reader or card is connected. Card reader product id 3437 is listed in /lib/pcsc/drivers/ifd-ccid.bundle/Contents/Info.plist. However pcscd seems to be very old, 1.8.5 which is from 2012, so it might have some issues.
I also tested this on CentOS Linux 7.3 which has pcscd 1.8.8 and on that pcscd recognizes my reader and card.
vRA 7.2 Add CDRom & Mount CDRom Error
Hi All,..
In order to enable the end user to mount an Iso file from his/her desktop, I have tried both, add CDrom & mount CDrom actions
However, both actions return with the error (Failed to convert external resource "vm name". Script action com.vmware.vcac.asd.mappings/mapToVCVM failed.)
I don't know what is missing but I even tried to run the workflow from vRO & when it prompts for the VM name & I give many vms names for VMs running in my vCenter,
the vRO can't find them although it is connected to the vcenter .
I appreciate your help regarding this issue.
Best Regards

Re: Add AD group as Administrator on esxi
Follow below steps:-
Log in to the vSphere Client.
On the vCenter entity root level, right-click and select Add Permission.
The Assign Permissions window appears.
Select Administrator from the Assigned Role drop-down menu.
This menu displays all the roles that are assigned to the object. When the role appears, the privileges contained in the role are listed in the section below the role title.
Select Propagate to Child Objects.
Click Add.
The Select Users and Groups window appears.
Select the domain where the user or group is located from the Domain drop-down menu.
Type a name in the Search box or select a name from the Name list.
Click Add.
The name is added to the Users or Groups list.
Repeat steps Step 6 through Step 8 to add additional users or groups.
Click OK.
To finish the task, click OK.

VMware Converter
Hi Geeks
Greetings,
It is possible to covert the physical Linux or BSD Operating systems installed machines in to Virtual machine??
If the any options is there please let me know any documents are available to do this operations.
Thanks in advance
Devaraj Sankar.
Re: VMware vCenter Converter Standlone.
It will work for both.
Re: Add AD group as Administrator on esxi
Euh, nice answer, but I'm not sure a GUI procedure in an automation community is really what the submitter was asking
Re: VMware Workstation unrecoverable error: (vcpu-2)
Hi,
This is apparently a compatibility error with running the latest version of Windows build from the fast ring.

The only workaround that I am currently aware about is to drop the virtual CPU count on your virtual machine to just 1 core.
Of course you can also roll back the windows build.

Re: Forgotten ESXi root Password. How could I reset it?
yes, if its ESXi, we don't have any method apart from re-installing ESXI
but in ESX 3.x and 4, we can reset.Workaround is in this Kb: - KB for Changing a forgotten root password on an ESX/ESXi host
Re: Assistance with Wait and Win VM
1) Which PowerCI are you using?
Since 6.5.1 it's all modules, you can install them from the PSGallery, and they can live in whatever folder you want.
2) Do you use an OSCustomizationSpec when you create the new VM from a template?
Once the guest OS is up and running, you could use the Invoke-VMScript cmdlet to run scripts inside the guest OS.
Re: Add AD group as Administrator on esxi
RvdNieuwendijk thanks for the reply, the cmd ran without error but when i try to login individual esxi with vspeher client as well as ssh it did not worked.
Also i checked the esxi with root login the group is not seen in permissions tab, so looks like i did not explain the questions well, I think you got the idea now.
i see a note on internet ,,,
$HostPW ="yxz"
$DomainAdmin ="DomainAdmin"
$DomainPW ="yxz"
$ADGroup ="domain\DomainGroup"
$Domain ="domain.local"
Add-PSSnapinVMware.VimAutomation.Core
Connect-VIServer$VMHost–User root–Password$HostPW
Get-VMHostAuthentication-VMHost$VMHost|Set-VMHostAuthentication-Domain$Domain-Username$DomainAdmin-Password$DomainPW-JoinDomain-Confirm:$false
Get-VMHost$VMHost|New-VIPermission-Principal$ADGroup-Role"Admin"
Disconnect-VIServer$VMHost-Confirm:$false
==
but the above did not worked for me..
I think this can be done only by directly login to each esxi , "Connect-VIServer$VMHost–User root–Password$HostPW" & then add the AD group with Admin access ...
FYI i am able to add the stuff manually & all nodes are connected to AD already
Re: Add AD group as Administrator on esxi
i just tried again the individual connect-vishost method & it worked, i think last night when i tried i was half awake
RvdNieuwendijk Can you confirm it possible only by individual esxi connection only ?
